Got this as a Christmas gift for my son but it’s too hard for him to use. He can’t pull back to load it or pull the trigger on his own. Also it shoots the darts very hard and fast. For a Nerf product I was not impressed. I remember them being better quality when I was a kid
When my son says we're going to go take out Bridgeworm, this is the blaster I grab. My only complaint is that the darts need to be pretty fresh out the box to work well. Each time the dart is loaded it gets squeezed a little, and as soon as it takes a set the range goes down and you start getting jams and misfires. When you load the dart you can feel how tight it is in the drum though, so you can reject darts that you know will be a problem once you get use to it. Flywheel blasters that jam are a bigger headache than this one. Of all the blasters I have purchased for my son over the past year, the Nerf Rival Takedown has been my favorite by far. Indoor target practice and battles with that thing is super fun, and it doesn't carry too many rounds, and the rival balls (which is a different type of round than the shockwave takes) are way more durable. You can hit a water bottle or cup from across the room with impunity. There is very little accuracy with elite darts, which is what the shockwave takes. They just suck for accuracy. My favorite game with the Takedown is to fill a water bottle 1/4 full and try to knock it off a TV tray with a full clip. Most of the shots need to be a hit, and you might get the payoff kill shot at the end. Good times.
This gun jams often, even brand new, right out of the box, using the bullets it came with that are in mint condition. When we saw the quality, we asked my son if he wanted to return it as it really interferes with enjoyment and ease of use, but he felt it was still "cool" enough to keep and is rather patient about it failing to fire even when loaded properly. Since he bought it with his own money, we let him make that call. If we'd purchased it for a gift for someone, I would expect the item to be returned as defective and would feel it wasn't a good value for the money spent. Unfortunate, since we encouraged our son to buy the Nerf Brand to try avoid this issue.
This did not shop in original packaging. It arrived in a plain cardboard box. It appears new in description. This was intended to be a gift but because it was not shipped in original packaging, appears we have already played with it or regifted it😞
Don't get me wrong, this looks BA when wielding against my eight year old child, but looks are deceiving. This gun doesn't pack enough punch as I was unable to pelt my child from across the living room... had to get up close and just repeatedly shoot her with the foam darts until she threw in the towel. The Halo Version of the nerf gun is more accurate, more punch and with just the right enough sting to show the kids whose boss.
