I am a big Wyze fan, especially of their cameras, but the Wyze Doorbell has me losing confidence.

This year I bought a Wyze Doorbell for my mother to go on her backdoor, expecting it to be every bit as easy as their other products. While the camera quality is every bit as good as their normal Wyze Cams, this product falls frustratingly short in a number of areas:

1. Installation. What a nightmare. It comes with an angled riser which gives you a little compartment in which you can tuck excess wires if you need to, but if you have a bulk of wires and need to mount the doorbell flat against a surface - then look elsewhere.

Our wires come through a small hole in the vinyl doorframe and we could not drill a bigger hole into which we could stuff the wires and caps needed to connect our Wyze wires to the doorbell wires. We only barely managed to secure the bell to the backing plate with everything stuffed in behind. Wyze *needs* to include a non-angled riser. If you need to add extras like caps or butt connectors and are mounting it on stone or brick - forget about it.

2. Notifications. I bought it thinking that it would function like more expensive competitors, notifying you independently of notifications from other cameras that the bell had been rung. Unfortunately, the bell notification gets lumped into every other Wyze notification on your phone and you cannot pick-and-choose which to see and which not. So if you have many notifications coming in from passing cars, your bell notification will get lumped into those. If you have push notifications turned off so you don't get notifications from another busier camera then you will not have the choice to get only the bell notifications. My mother keeps push notifications off because otherwise her front cam notifies her every time a car passes, this means she also doesn't get push notifications of door bell dings.

3. Storage. There is no microSD storage option as with their other cameras. You get 14 days of storage for clips of a certain length, otherwise you have to pay for their subscription service.

4. Connectivity. We have other cameras placed as far or farther from the router that encounter no problems, yet the Wyze Doorbell struggles to maintain a connection and provide anything beyond 480p or SD resolution at embarrassingly poor speeds.

I got it working yesterday and hav already filed a return. We are going to swap for a WyzeCam V3 which we will mount outside. All of this extra headache is not worth it for the benefit of a doorbell. Disappointed in Wyze as my experience has otherwise been great and these are areas in which I didn't expect to have issues.

the camera quality is great. best I've seen so far, but it seems to have connection issues all over the time. sometimes it just goes offline, my Wi-Fi connection is pretty good and all my other wyze cams seem to be working fine. it also records motion late, installation is really straight forward though which i do appreciate. the doorbell is quite small but it looks great. really disappointed as its offline most of the time and its unusable almost all the time because of the connection issues, overall 2 stars

I've had this doorbell camera for a year now and I can say that it works fine in the winter. The video looks great and I can connect to it and watch the live feed. The audio and mic leave something to be desired, but otherwise it serves its purpose. However, once it starts warming up, it works less and less well. The video isn't as crisp and it's slower to connect. When the temp gets above 85F, real problems start happening where connection doesn't happen, the video is grainy and it's hit or miss whether it decides to even ring the doorbell. Any hotter than 95F and goodbye doorbell...I have to physically remove the wire (support recommends to flip the breaker, but I have other devices on that circuit that I don't want to interrupt) to reset it so that it connects. I get a day or two before it dies again and has to be physically reset. My porch is shaded so I have to wonder how bad it gets if the doorbell camera gets any direct sunlight. Where I live it can be pretty hot 5-6 months of the year which makes this doorbell pretty useless. I don't recommend this doorbell if you live somewhere where 90+ degree weather is frequent.

I am a Wyze loyalist. I have 6 cameras, 12 plugs and this thing.

Pros:
- It looks good

Cons:
- Not easy to install
- Poor WiFi connectivity
- Spotty motion detection

I have a mesh network in my house. This device is installed LESS THAN 6 feet from a WiFi signal, yet it connects to the main hub which is more than 40 feet away. This makes its connectivity weak and it misses have the events.

When someone pushes the doorbell, it rings the chime about 20 seconds later. I also have it connected to Alexa, but it takes upwards of TWO MINUTES to come through. So...that feature is worthless...

If I had it to do over again, I would probably just get a RING doorbell as this one is simply not up to par!

The product itself it amazing, price is good.

The problem id the wifi connectivity, many peoples complains about it on the internet.

Initially, i was able to add it to the wyze app but was not able to connect to the doorbell at all because of a wifi signal issue (even if 2 of my wyze cams are 2 feet from there and are connected properly)

then i get a wifi booster installed close to the doorbell, my signal is now at 100% in the app.

50% of the time i cant watch live video
98% of the time, when people ring, doorbell crash and restart, so impossible to watch live or talk

I have other Wyze products (indoor and outdoor cameras) and I have been generally pleased with the product quality, features, and the app. One of the nicest features of the app is the ability to "share" a specific device with other people. Very handy with family members of office environments. This is a feature that many other vendors do not have in their software.

One issue though with all the Wyze camera products is that the video does not stream to Google Home products (like the Nest Hub Max). It is supposed to work but does not. Only way to view the video is through the Wzye app on a phone.

The BIG ISSUE with this doorbell is that it will disconnect and not reconnect itself after a power outage. Super frustrating since the solution is to reboot the doorbell. Problem is that the only way to reboot the doorbell is to cut power (which ironically is why it stopped working in the first place) and this is a problem. To cut power you need to either remove the doorbell and reset it, cut the power connection in your original indoor doorbell box, or reset a circuit breaker. NONE of these are really viable or acceptable solutions. The indoor Wyze cameras recover fine after a power outage but the doorbell does not. Why Wyze??? It's just terrible design and firmware.

Another slight issue is that you cannot add the doorbell to a camera group in the app. All the other cameras can be grouped but for some reason they don't consider the doorbell to be a camera. UGH.

So it has some promise but right now it is just a major hassle. I am very close to considering putting back my old dumb doorbell.

Wifi is flaky. Disconnects often. Only way to reestablish connection is to disconnect power to the doorbell or reset your 2.4ghz wifi. Chime module never seems to work for long. Have to reset it to get it to ring again. When it works it’s great. App is always pushing to pay for more services and basic recording is not good.

I’ve used this camera for about a year and I have to say you get what you pay for. This camera continually misses people and things (it’s not located on a busy street so it shouldn’t be hard to capture everything) and is now not connecting to my wifi even though nothing has changed and it worked up until now. I had to install a camera as well as this doorbell to ensure we aren’t missing anything and now the doorbell is garbage since it won’t connect, wry disappointed.
