I did test this on my hand and it seems to go on nicely without much white cast, but it is highly scented, like coconut I think. Because I am super sensitive, with rosacea, the reason why I purchased a mineral sunscreen in the first place, I had to return it without trying it on my face.
I’m so confused. my dermatologist SWORE by this product... i’ve been using it for two week and staying out of the sun as much as possible. today i was out in the sun for around an hour applied this 30 mins before on my face neck and chest. and a diff sunscreen for the rest of my body at 30 spf... so someone explain HOW i’m fried on the area i applied this product?? i feel like i have a fever it’s so bad. while i was in the sun did not feel like i was getting burnt.. then an hour later i’m a lobster.. lol is this a joke?
First, this is a mineral sunscreen. This will leave a white cast. I found that the best way to combat this is to combine it with a BB cream. I purchased this because so many reviews cited this as a dermatologist's recommendation for skin cancer survivors. I found that the fragrance really bothered my sensitive skin. I wish I could return it but it's fine, I guess. Also, it's important to note that the presence of fragrance in things like sunscreen compromise the integrity of the ingredients so just be aware of that. I also saw in the comments that dark spots decreased with usage. That will happen regardless so long as you use a high spf (50, at least) mineral sunscreen as you should (every two hours or 40 min in the sun). I have melasma, this is actually a bit aggravating on my skin and it's the fragrance. I am switching when I kill this bottle to cotz tinted mineral sunscreens, it's about $25 at Ulta and if you look for the online deals, it's occasionally buy one, get one 40% off. I highly recommend that one and the tint is nicer for Fitzpatrick III, that's what I am...so no white cast and it's free of fragrance.
I had read about Isdin mineral sunscreen in a health article on line. I mentioned the product to my dermatologist who then wholeheartedly recommended it. She also sells the Isdin line in her practice. Unlike other zinc based sunscreens, Isdin is absorbed well and leaves no "white, ghostly" residue as I experienced with CeraVe and other products. Even when layering Isdin with moisturizer, make-up etc. there isn't any heavy feeling. If I rub my skin I don't get that rub-off pilling. I recommend Isdin. It's worth the cost. I use it all over and not just on my face.
I was skeptical a first as I had these brown spots on my nose and cheek that didn't seem to fade with the top products. My spots are actually fading! I thought I was imagining things until my husband concurred. The sunscreen is very lightweight and moisturizing. It will go on as a thin white film but will absorb into your skin quickly. The price is reasonable as it's twice the size of the 1.7-ounce products available.
Your product was suggested by my Dermatalogist. I had recently gone through months of topical treatment for AK on my legs and needed to protect them during our Hawaii vacation. I used your product, which not only protected my legs, but I swear the larger brown spots from topical treatment have disappeared. There are still brown spots but they are now much lighter and smaller. Crazy, I know, but true! Love this product.
I am impressed by the product. I am light brown and this product melts in my skin. It doesn’t leave a white cast, I attribute this to the denatured alcohol which is not a healthy ingredient for the face as it can cause free radical formation and hyperpigmentation. However, it is the fifth ingredient so likely a small amount. They should definitely remove fragrance and reduce the alcohol content if possible.
Update after two weeks of wear 2020 The product has a Dry sheer finish not ideal for people with dry skin. Be sure to put on moisturizer prior to this sunscreen. If you have facial hair good luck getting the sunscreen from clumping around your hair follicles. Reapplication is a headache because the product is not very hydrating. So you face could look ashy if your dark skinned. I will not buy this product again. Fair ingredient and good concept but not ideal for tan/darker skin colors as it require additional facial lotion.
I took a chance on this sunscreen when Lancome discontinued the one I used for years. I have skin sensitivities due to roscea and have to be careful with the products I use. I applied this and have gotten no reaction, which is great. It also does not have a strong scent, which I love. Yes, it is pricier than others, but it absorbs quickly, leaves no greasy residue and does not leave white marks or stains on clothes. I highly recommend.
I initially heard about this sunscreen from Dermatologist Dr. Corey Hartman, and when he mentioned that it was good for daily use and didn't leave a white cast, I decided to try it out.
Like many, the immediate con of this sunscreen is the fragrance. I will say I don't find it lasts very long but it has an initial "department store counter perfume" kind of scent. I previous used the Biore UV Essence and had to give it up due to the intense alcohol smell, so I find this to be much more preferable as a comparison honestly.
This goes on very light, does not irritate my eyes, and feels very pleasant and easy on the skin. I tend to put on an initial layer (two finger rule of course!), lightly rub, wait for it to set, then rub out any white spots I missed. Afterwards, I add a light layer on any parts I worry I might've missed, around my scalp, ears and jawline. I have medium tan skin (Fenty Beauty Foundation 310, Pat McGrath Medium 18), and this is a delight to wear and does not leave a white cast as long as you're careful in applying and rubbing in.
I personally really enjoy this sunscreen, and I don't mind the price considering the amount of product you get as many "cosmetically elegant" sunscreens range from 20–35 USD for 1.7. I truthfully am amazed by this sunscreen, I've been searching for a mineral sunscreen for my skintone for the longest time, and this is an absolute winner.
I bought this product based on reviews by dermatologists and far too many web searches for "best sunscreen 2020".
This is so comfortable to wear. It is not greasy, sticky, thick, or heavy on the skin, and it does not get all over the other things that I touch all day and make them greasy, sticky or thick.
This does not sweat into my eyes.
It has a very mild but pleasant clean scent.
It works incredibly well. I don't reapply and find that it works. I do wash it off my face before I go to bed, but I don't feel like I need to scrub it off as soon as I can (which I do with a lot of sunscreen).
I have very sensitive / reactive skin, and this doesn't cause any trouble whatsoever.
